Most of LERC's board members are leaders of or active with many environmental organizations and activities which include:
•Tom Fuhrman, Cathy Pedler, Pat Lupo, Dave Skellie, and Mike Campbell are all founding members of the Pennsylvania Lake Erie Watershed Association and serve on its board.
•Tom Fuhrman and Pat Lupo serve on the Board of Great Lakes United and Erie will host the 2004 Great Lakes United annual meeting.
•Tom Fuhrman and Matt Wolford have recently been appointed by the Governor to the Lake Erie Genessee Basin Regional Water Resources Committee.
•Cathy Pedler is current president of the Erie County Environmental Coalition, chairwoman of the Partnership for a Healthy Mill Creek Watershed.
•Pat Lupo is founder and president of Lake Erie Allegheny Earth Force which has received several hundred thousand dollars in grants for educating young people about environmental issues and practices including a recent Growing Greener grant for $98,000. Pat also serves on the Citizens Advisory Commission for DEP, and the Great Lakes Commission.
•Tom Fuhrman and Cathy Pedler serve on the board of Lake Erie Allegheny Earth Force.
•Ed Kissel is the founder and past president and serves on the board of S.O.N.S (Save Our Native Species) which is an organization of sportsmen that advocates and promotes public access and sport fishing. Ed is recognized and has received numerous awards for his volunteer efforts on several environmental fronts especially beautification and public assess. Ed is also a founding member of the Erie County Environmental Coalition and still serves on its board. He also serves on the following; Metropolitan Transportation Organization, PA Sea Grant, Western PA Port Authority, WPC French Creek Conservation Plan Committee, and more.
•Tom Fuhrman and Ed Kissel serve on the Coastal Zone Management Steering Committee.
•Tom Fuhrman, Ed Kissel, Pat Lupo, Cathy Pedler, Mike Campbell, and Dave Skellie serve on the Presque Isle Bay Advisory Committee for Presque Isle Bay which was upgraded this year from a designated Great Lakes Area of Concern to an Area of Recovery.
•Brian Winslow is executive director of Asbury Woods Nature Center and has been successful in raising $3 million dollars for a current capital campaign, renovating of an historic barn that is being used for education and meetings, the installation of a major, 70' bridge over a creek that connects a 2.5 mile foot/bike path, and more.
•Jeff Gault is the founder and president of the Bayfront Access Beautification Organization and has been instrumental in preserving and enhancing the Bayfront Highway. This summer saw the completion of a two mile Promenade Park along the bluff of Presque Isle Bay.
